Sleip and Schelstaete Equine Law Announce Joint Webinar on “The Equine PPE: Data, Decisions, and Documentation”.

October, 21 – ‘s-Hertogenbosch – Schelstraete Equine Law and Sleip will host a joint webinar on Wednesday, 25 November 2026, exploring the role of clinical judgment, diagnostic imaging, objective gait analysis, and legal documentation in the equine pre-purchase examination (PPE). Designed for veterinarians, the webinar will bring together experts in equine veterinary medicine and equine law to examine how these different factors influence clinical decisions, communication with the buyer or seller, and professional and legal responsibilities.

The webinar begins at 7:30pm CET and is free to attend. Registration is available via the official registration page.

Equine PPE: Interpretation, Communication, and Documentation

The PPE rarely results in a straightforward yes-or-no answer. Veterinarians must interpret clinical findings, diagnostic imaging, and increasingly objective gait data to assess a horse’s condition and explain potential implications to the buyer or seller.

These assessments can also have significant legal consequences. Clear communication, proper documentation, and a considered explanation of uncertainty and risk are essential to managing expectations and reducing the potential for disputes.

Through practical case studies, examples of PPE-related disputes, and a panel discussion, the webinar will explore how these different sources of information can be evaluated together and incorporated into a comprehensive assessment. Particular attention will be given to communicating findings to buyers and sellers, documenting professional assessments, and understanding and preventing potential legal implications for the veterinarian.

Veterinary and Equine Law Experts to Speak

The webinar will feature presentations from experts in equine veterinary medicine and equine law, including Dr. Marc Koene (DVM – Tierklinik Lüsche), Dr. Aagje Hardeman (DVM, PhD, IVCA-cert. – Sleip), Dr. Kurt Selberg (DVM Dipl ACVR, ACVR-EDI), Piotr Wawrzyniak (LL.M. – Schelstraete Equine Law), and Dr. Zachary Calo (PhD – Schelstraete Equine Law).

The session will be moderated by Femke Laan (DVM), in-house veterinarian and paralegal at Schelstraete Equine Law.
