Schelstraete Equine Law was founded by Luc Schelstraete in 1989, driven by his passion for both horses and law. Since then, the firm has developed into an international law firm specializing in equine law, commercial litigation, and sports law.

Today, we advise and represent riders, owners, breeders, investors, private clients, and (equestrian) businesses on complex legal matters. While our firm is internationally recognized for its expertise in the equestrian sector, our practice extends to a broad range of commercial legal matters across industries. Our multidisciplinary team advises on commercial transactions, contractual matters, and business disputes, alongside equine-related litigation, regulatory proceedings, and disciplinary and doping cases.

Our international practice enables us to advise national and international clients across borders, combining legal, commercial, and industry-specific expertise while maintaining a clear focus on the interests and objectives of our clients.
