CAS New Regulations for 2020

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) publishes Amendments to the Rules of the CAS effective 1 July 2020.

The most significant changes to the Rules concern:

  1. Spanish becoming the third official language of CAS next to English and French (see R29)
  2. The use E-filing (as an alternative to courier see R31) and video conferencing (R44). Both gained relevance during the recent Covid-19 pandemic.
  3. With the exception of the time limit for the statement of appeal, any request for a first extension of time of a maximum of five-ten days can be decided by the CAS Secretary Director General without consultation with the other party(s).
